YOUTH TOBACCO PREVENTION
OBJECTIVES
Develop and support programs to limit youth access to and use of tobacco products
Partner effectively with external stakeholders to expand adoption of youth tobacco prevention programs
Reynolds American and its operating companies are guided by the belief that minors should never use tobacco products. Every state prohibits the sale of tobacco products to minors. Numerous programs operated at the national, state and local level – both publicly and privately financed – are focused on preventing youth from using tobacco products.

Stakeholders are unified in their concerns about youth tobacco use; they expect Reynolds American and its operating companies to be proactive in working to prevent minors from using these products. Each operating company has internal guidelines and practices in place to limit exposure of minors to their tobacco advertising and marketing activities. Several companies, in particular R.J. Reynolds, support additional programs that reach retailers, parents, students and youth leaders to help in the fight to prevent youth from using tobacco. R.J. Reynolds’ 2006 Corporate Social Responsibility report highlighted many of these programs, which continue to operate today.

The following report describes the current youth tobacco prevention activities of Reynolds American’s operating companies.
